A pilot leads and guides an airplane. He knows the intricacies of every control mechanism of the plane from how to start the engine to how to use the landing gear.
If the pilot did not know how to operate the control mechanisms of the plane successfully, Would you get to your destination?
Suppose the pilot mistakenly went 100 miles west rather than 100 miles east. Would you reach your desired destination? No.
Suppose the pilot was not properly trained in how to use the landing gear, and neglected to engage the landing gear at the proper time, causing the plane to crash; you would not reach your destination.
However, when you have God at the controls of your life (as the PILOT of your life, you are guaranteed to reach your God-ordained destination because God has clear direction and knows the best paths for you to take. God never makes mistakes? However, you must remain steadfast in faith (trusting, depending, and being assured) of God’s Word, and apply it in your life.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
Proverbs 3:5-7 says “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.”
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.” (James 1:22-23)
You must submit to God’s leading (direction), rather than being led by your thoughts and emotions. When you follow God’s direction, you automatically turn form and resist evil. You can’t follow the path of righteousness and the path of evil at the same time. They are diametrically opposed to each other.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not go on it; turn from it and pass on.” (Proverbs 4:14-15)
“But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]. The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.” (Proverbs 4:18-19)
“The uncompromisingly righteous shall flourish like the palm tree (be long-lived; stately; upright; useful and fruitful) . . . Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:13)
Like the pilot, God is the pilot of our lives. He has clear direction for our lives, and knows the designated life destinations that are best before we reach our eternal destination – HEAVEN!!!
But we must surrender to God’s will (his direction) so we can stay on the straight and narrow road that leads to righteousness, rather than veering off and going our own way. For when we go astray, it leads us to experience problems and catastrophes that could have been avoided; problems that lead to oppression and depression, problems and catastrophes that lead to the destruction of our lives physically and spiritually.
Therefore, allow God to PILOT your life, and you will gain wisdom (knowledge + understanding + applying the Word of God) and avoid many snares (traps). When you allow God to lead and guide you, success is guaranteed, and you will experience true love, joy, and peace.
So I challenge you today to take a back seat,
and allow God to be your PILOT.
Karmen A. Booker has been called by God to exhort and teach others the Word of God. She is the founder of Wings of Love Women’s Ministry (WLWM), which creates an atmosphere and forum where women can realize healing and spiritual growth, while cultivating their God-given gifts and ministering in their local churches and their communities and the world.
WLWM’s desire is to connect with other women who have battled abuse in their lives, and who have been held back from moving forward for whatever reason. We seek to encourage victims of abuse to go forth and grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ with more commitment & boldness, knowing that through healing and restoration “the good work God has began in them He will complete.’’
WLWM offers ministry resources such as “Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts”, which is designed to encourage you to discover your God-given spiritual gifts so you can use them to help and bless others, while growing in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
